  • The difference between low pressure casting and gravity casting

gravity casting refers to the process of casting liquid metal under the gravity of the earth, also known as gravity casting. The generalized gravity casting includes sand casting, metal casting, melt casting, EPC, mud casting, and so on. The narrow sense gravity casting mainly refers to the metal casting. What are the differences between low pressure casting and gravity casting?

Gravity casting has a feature:

1. the internal porosity of castings is small, and the degree of pre heat treatment can be greatly improved, even more than that of die casting products.

2. the product is low compactness. Depending on liquid gravity molding, the compactness of the product is lower than that of the die casting, and its strength is slightly worse, but its elongation is higher.

The surface finish of 3. products is not high. The casting product is prone to form a pits similar to shot blasting after cooling and contraction.

The 4. filling is slow and the production efficiency is low.

5. die life is longer than that of die-casting, and the cost of die is low.

The characteristics of low pressure casting are as follows:

1. liquid metal filling is more stable.

2. the castability is good, which is conducive to forming a clear and smooth surface.

3. the castings are dense and have high mechanical properties.

4., the processing yield of raw materials has been improved. Generally speaking, risers are not required. The utilization rate of raw materials has been greatly improved, and the yield is generally up to 90%.

5. because of mechanization and automation operation, labor intensity is reduced and production efficiency is greatly improved.
